Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert advice and support to managers and employees on all aspects of the employee lifecycle, from recruitment and onboarding to performance management and offboarding.
- Act as the first point of contact for employees and managers, providing guidance on HR policies and procedures.
- Manage and resolve complex Employee Relations (ER) and Industrial Relations (IR) matters, including investigations, disciplinary actions, and grievance handling.
- Collaborate with managers on performance management processes, providing coaching and support to ensure consistent and fair evaluations.
- Partner with managers to identify talent needs and develop strategies for attracting, retaining, and developing top talent.
- Maintain and organize the training calendar, ensuring timely delivery of relevant training programs to employees. This includes coordinating logistics, tracking attendance, and evaluating training effectiveness.
- Educate and coach managers on performance management, including goal setting and reviews.
- Contribute to various HR projects and initiatives, such as organizational change, employee engagement, and systems implementation.
- Ensure a safe working environment by adhering to WH&S standards and promoting best practices.
- Act as a WHS Champion and RTW Coordinator, collaborating with management to address safety concerns and incidents promptly.
- Promote a coaching culture that empowers managers in people management responsibilities.
- Administering and optimising the HRIS ‘ELMO’ and providing SME support to managers in the rostering system (Mirus) and ELMO.
The Successful Applicant:
We are looking for an experienced HR Generalist with proven experience in a commercial and unionised environment. The ideal candidate will be self-led as well as a strong team player used to proactively engaging with the team and business to understand needs from internal customers’ perspective and provide solutions. You will have a can-do attitude, loads of energy, naturally and proactively identify challenges as well as develop and deliver solutions of value. You will be commercial, engaging and provide insightful guidance and coaching to leaders to drive improved performance, engagement, capability and culture outcomes.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Brings experience (min. 5 years) in HR Business Partner or generalist roles (end-to-end HR is your thing!)
- Strong knowledge of HR legislation, Enterprise Agreements and industrial instruments
- Feels confident juggling multiple clients and building relationships at all levels—from C-suite to frontline.
- Is proactive, organised, and loves thinking outside the box to solve problems.
- Demonstrated ability to nurture and develop strong, positive working relationships with organizational leaders with a mixture of coaching, courageous conversations and formal service provision
- Experience in all functions across the People function including IR / ER, Organizational Development, Learning and Development, Workplace Health and Safety etc.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage sensitive information with discretion and integrity.
