Role outline:
The Enrolled Nurse is responsible for meeting the direct care needs and preferences of the residents as recorded in the assessments and the nursing care plans, and in accordance with the Enrolled Nurse Scope of Practice, demonstrates professional and collaborative practice, and provides supervision and direction of the personal care assistants as directed by the Registered Nurse in charge and/or Facility Services Manager in accordance with Columbia vision, mission, values and continuous improvement systems.
About the role:
- Document all pertinent information relating to resident care given and changes in condition in line with the Clinical Documentation Policy
- Demonstrates respect for those receiving care regardless of ethnicity, culture, religion, age, gender, sexual preference, physical or mental state, differing values and beliefs
- Overseeing the safety of residents and staff through monitoring, coaching and modelling safe practices in infection control, equipment use, manual handling, mobility assistance, falls prevention, restraint, resident wandering, risk taking or challenging behaviours
- Together with the RN read and understand the Communication Book diary, Intranet memos and other relevant notices pertinent to the role and Resident Centred Care
- Apply the principles of privacy and confidentiality to all work practices.
- Assist in the orientation of, including ‘buddying’ of new staff members.Undertake Medication administration activities with adherence to safe practices, policies and processes
- Report to the RN immediately any errors or deviations from Medication Administration policy and processes, and document same on a Medication Incident Report
- Report any changes in condition immediately to the RN either pre or post medication delivery
- Meet legal requirements associated with delegated medication administration and resident safety with medication use
- Participate in activities to improve medication administration and management work practices etc
About you:
- Enrolled Nurse with current Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) registration.
- Has the ability to plan and implement care maintaining a holistic approach to identify and meet assessed resident care needs.
- Excellent communication and written skills
- Demonstrates decision making and problem solving skills
- Team player
- Good knowledge of the Aged Care Quality Standards
- Current Police Check
